Wedding Guidelines

We are pleased that you are considering Union Chapel as the site for your wedding. We at Union Chapel will do all within our power to make sure that if you select our church, it will be a very special day. Our philosophy concerning hosting a wedding at our church is that we will work with you to design your special day within a Christian context. We will suggest a wedding service while giving you the freedom to change, delete, add to, or even propose an alternate service. We will allow you to select the music you wish to use at your service with the final approval of the music director or the pastor. We will allow you to decorate the sanctuary as you so desire. It is our policy to host only one wedding per weekend, with very few exceptions, which gives you the freedom to set the time for the rehearsal, when to arrive at the church to dress, when to take pictures and to set the time for your wedding that best fits into your schedule.

Union Chapel is conveniently located just one block west of Keystone Avenue on 86th street, (just two blocks west of the Keystone-at-the-Crossing Mall.) We are less than one mile from the Keystone Exit off I-465 (Exit 33) on the northeast side of Indianapolis. We are easily accessible to your out-of-town guests as well as in a convenient location to reach your reception site from our church.

Our church was built in the early 1950's in the New England style. We have 14 pews on either side of the center aisle, with each pew comfortably seating six to eight adults, giving us a seating capacity on the main floor of approximately 225. There is also a balcony that will seat an additional 50 people, giving us a total seating capacity in our sanctuary of 275. There are dressing rooms located in the back of our church for your use. The church is fully air conditioned and heated to make sure that the building is comfortable for your special day.

Union Chapel is available to members, constituent members, and those looking to locate a Christian setting for their wedding. While other ministers are invited to take part in the wedding service (at the discretion of the Union Chapel pastor) the pastor of our church is in charge of any and all services conducted within our building. It is therefore not available for rental where someone other than our pastor will be conducting the service.

A wedding is not officially booked on our church calendar until we have the necessary information and the deposit has been received. We encourage you to book your wedding as soon as possible as it is not uncommon for us to book weddings up to a year in advance.
